I design and install professional IP security camera systems tailored to the specific needs of each property. From residential and small-business installations to large commercial environments, camera placement, coverage, lighting, network infrastructure, storage, and remote access are carefully considered to provide reliable visibility where it matters most. Systems can be designed around existing infrastructure or built as a complete, integrated solution. I use Blue Iris as the brain of the system; it is the Gold Standard for IP Security Systems, see details below, or call me for a demo. To see what a design looks like, download one below.
DORI provides a standardized way to evaluate how effectively a camera can capture useful detail at different distances. Detection determines that a person or object is present; Observation provides enough detail to describe it; Recognition allows a person or object to be distinguished with greater confidence; and Identification provides sufficient detail to establish identity. DORI distances are an important consideration when selecting cameras and determining mounting locations, lens types, and coverage requirements—helping ensure the system is designed for its intended purpose rather than simply maximizing camera count.
Proper installation is only part of an effective surveillance system. Camera selection, mounting locations, viewing angles, network connectivity, recording capacity, and system configuration all play a critical role in achieving useful video. Taking all of these into consideration before the installation results in a professionally designed system that provides dependable coverage, simplifies monitoring, and delivers clear, usable video when it is needed most.
Blue Iris is professional video security software from Perspective Software that runs on a Windows PC. It turns a standard computer into a powerful network video recorder (NVR), bringing together cameras from many manufacturers in one system. Now in version 6, it builds on more than 25 years of continuous development and supports up to 128 cameras.
Blue Iris records continuously or on motion, and it can confirm events with built-in AI that detects people, vehicles and animals, including license plate recognition. When something happens, it can send push notifications, emails or text messages, so you only hear about the events that matter. Its rebuilt database makes it fast to search, review and export footage when you need it.
You can watch live and recorded video from anywhere through the Blue Iris web interface (UI3) or the mobile apps, with traffic encrypted by its built-in HTTPS server. GPU-assisted video processing keeps the system responsive even with many high-resolution cameras. It also works with smart-home and automation systems, making it a flexible hub for both home and business security.
